Walking along Viale delle Mura Portuensi it is possible to glimpse beyond the walls one of the most important works of Italian rationalism: the Casa della Gioventù Italiana del Littorio (former GIL), built in 1934-36 by architect Luigi Moretti. There is also another 1930s building inside the walls: the Dopolavoro dei Monopoli di Stato [State Monopolies Recreational Association] (today the Nuovo Sacher cinema) designed by Ettore Rossi.
