Coat of arms of Pope Nicholas V (1447-1455)

Three towers bear the coat of arms of the pontiff (M3, M4, M5), who was responsible for restoring the mainly tuff structures. The towers have very pronounced crenelations, in a “scudo” or shield shape, without the side of the upper chamber facing inwards, and a slightly inclined base (“a scarpa”) to better resist firearms.
