Plaques commemorating the city of Montevideo and the Bulgarian Garibaldian soldiers

At the beginning of the Passeggiata del Gianicolo [Janiculum Promenade], next to the break in the walls (difficult to recognise because it is covered by a modern brick curtain) are two commemorative plaques.
The one at the top bears an inscription in bronze, affixed in 1928, which reads: MONTEVIDEO/ALLA MADRE/DELLA LATINITA’/MCMXXVIII and commemorates the close tie between the Uruguayan city and Giuseppe Garibaldi, a leading figure in the defence of the Roman Republic on the Janiculum Hill in 1849.
The other, affixed in 1987, commemorates the Bulgarian Garibaldian soldiers who fought in the Italian battles for Independence.
