Near the former Mattatoio (Slaughterhouse), on the riverbank, a short section of wall can be seen, with a tower restored in the 8th-9th century. This is the only section parallel to the banks of the Tiber that survived demolition for the construction of the southern railway link in the early 20th century. From cartographic evidence, until the 16th century, it still retained 18 towers, mostly reduced to ruins, and the internal walkway identifiable by a series of arches.
