Passageways on Via Cristoforo Colombo

The section of wall that crosses Via Cristoforo Colombo was destroyed in order to open four large arches for vehicle traffic. The works, which began in 1939 for the Via dell’Impero project that was to connect Rome with the E42 (EUR) exhibition district and the sea, were completed in the 1950s. Clearly visible on the exterior elevation are the imprint of a demolished tower and on the interior side, the 12 arches of Honorius’ covered walkway.
