Along Viale Metronio, many stone materials reused from Honorius’ works are visible in the walkway. Fragments of pilasters, brackets, sarcophagi, and other materials were used to crown arrow slits and in the brickwork. Similar features are observable along the entire stretch to Porta Latina. At no. 30 Viale Metronio, a plaque commemorates the reconstruction of a tower by Pope Pius IX between 1860-65.
