Excavations for Metro C allowed the recovery of about 80 meters of the inner wall, previously obliterated by post-ancient fill. This stretch includes two towers and fourteen arches of the walkway, showing two construction phases, Aurelian and Honorian, with interesting late medieval functional adaptations, evidenced by painted remains and the Savelli coat of arms, possibly related to a Christian place of worship. Hydraulic structures embedded in the walkway document agricultural activities carried out until the 18th century in gardens owned by the Lateran basilica. The area is subject to enhancement interventions funded by PNRR, which will allow public access.
